If that huge pimple vanishes when you use a pimple cream, well and good, but some of us have pimples that just don"t respond to some acne treatment you might buy off the shelf. These are just some of the most popular ingredients in over the counter acne medications. Yes, these may get rid of the pimples but new ones will pop up.
The question is, what causes skin to become so oily and the pores so sticky? Why do some people get pimples while others stay clear skinned?
Could it be hormonal imbalance?
Notice how pimples appear just before your period (for women.) which is when hormones go haywire
Notice how stress may trigger an acne outbreak, and stress wreaks havoc on ones hormones.

The reason why the pimples keep coming back might be because you treat the symptoms and not the cause.
Go to a doctor and chances are you might be prescribed antibiotics, which would work to kill the bacteria and stop the outbreak. Then when you go off the antibiotics, the pimples come back. That happened to me over and over again. Yeah, those are acne pills that work.. temporarily. Once the bacteria becomes immune to the antibiotic, especially if the antibiotics are taken on and off without completely killing off the bacteria.
Then there is accutane or Isotretinion, a potent acne busting pill. It has a whole host of side effects, including birth defects in unborn children should the woman taking it be pregnant, serious psychiatric disorders, lip inflammation and drying of skin and mucous membranes.
I was fascinated by the research on the herb pueraria mirifica which contains a potend phytoestrogen. So potent it is used to treat female menopause for older women, or make breasts grow larger or firmer for vanity sake. A little publicized effect it had was the clearing of skin after about 3 months of use, at the dosage meant for breast enhancement. I tried that when nothing else worked on my acne. For the first 2 months or so, my acne did not seem to improve. On the 3rd month, skin began to clear completely and as long as I took those pills, my skin stayed clear. This should be only used by women as it really does cause breasts to grow, even on men.
