Love is Forgiving
April 15, 2012 No CommentsWhen someone wrongs you, do you hold it in your heart or forgive?
By forgiving, I don’t mean stupidly letting someone who wants to cheat you, cheat you again. Be smart, don’t do business with that person unguardedly again. Forgive a person who broke a confidence, causing you untold personal damage, but don’t confide in that person again.
You see, not forgiving someone hurts you, as you get bitter on the inside, your health is affected etc, as the other person goes merrily along his way, totally unbothered. Unforgiveness hurts you, not him.
An ancient Assyrian city, Nineveh plundered the Jewish farmers. They robbed, raped and murdered the Jewish farmers who settled there and burnt the crops.
God sent his prophet Jonah to tell the people of Nineveh to change their ways, otherwise, they would be destroyed. Jonah refused to warn them and went off in ship in the opposite direction. A storm threatened to take down that ship and the sailors, upon finding out Jonah had deliberately disobeyed God’s orders, threw him into the sea. God, in His mercy sent a fish to swallow Jonah.
3 days later, the fish deposited Jonah on the shore and this time, Jonah went to Nineveh to warn them. The city was spared.
