In April 2002, Andrea De Cruz started taking Slim 10, a then popular slimming pill in Singapore. 2 month later, she lay close to death with her liver mysteriously destroyed. Doctors eventually traced down the culprit. Slim 10. That diet pill and others containing fenfluramine had caused liver failure in unsuspecting users in Asia.

Andrea was lucky. Her then-fiance, Pierre Png donated half his liver to her. The operation was successful. She lived to marry her sweetheart and is now leading a new life, with her husband, Pierre Png.
